Fertility Food Friday with Sacred Fertility: Figs

Figs are a vitamin and mineral packed super food which is high in iron, fiber and calcium. Ancient Greeks and Romans believed them to a sacred food, and linked them with prosperity, fertility and peace. Recent studies have found that figs can help sperm motility and the fiber helps to balance estrogen. Try them in this easy recipe:

Roasted Figs

6 figs, halved

1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil

Pinch ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon Honey

Drizzle of Balsamic Vinegar

Pinch kosher salt

Fresh ricotta or soft Goat’s Cheese, full fat

How to Make

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Massage the oil into the figs and place in baking dish, cut side down. Roast for about 10 minutes until soft. Divide into 2 dishes and add a dollop or 2 of cheese. Drizzle with pan juices, honey and balsamic.
